Our Akela is a beautiful Birds Nest Fern that has leaves quite different from most of his relatives in the Asplenium family. The ends of the fronds split into three prongs that in turn seem almost to split into three again! Gosh, mother nature can be so confusing!

The Asplenium or Birds Nest Fern is a plant that doesn't like to be in the spotlight and would rather be in the shade. Just because he's hiding doesn't mean Akela doesn't love you! He'll shower you with fresh oxygen from his corner of the room as a token of his appreciation. Isn't that lovely!
